For the first sixteen years, we called our sessions with him Peter Lessons. Since we experienced Peter as that ultimate college professor, this seemed fitting. Our scouring any and all resources for questions we could ask marked those early years. Peter was using that time to find the vocabulary he needed to communicate with us in such a way as to always expand our thinking, magnify our unlimited nature, and encourage our exploration. We took advantage of opportunities we had in those days to test Peter and the phenomenon he represented. He gave us names of some people in Hamburg, Germany relatives of an incarnation of his we could question about him. Then, two members of that first study group were psychologists. They assisted us in testing brain wave differences, biofeedback variations, theta states, and levitation. We also used information given to us by Peter about future events to check on his credibility. One such test was especially meaningful to me since it dealt with a hobby of mine, astronomy. We had asked Peter about UFO abductions (no subject was off limits). He told us to be more specific. So we picked a current news story about two fishermen supposedly taken aboard a UFO. Peter began to tell us about a planet beyond Pluto, whose orbit is perpendicular to the Plane of the Ecliptic, with rings like Saturn. Science at that time was not embracing such heresy and so it seemed we had found a flaw in Peters teaching. Two weeks later, on the front page of the newspaper was a story of two mathematicians at Cal Tech who had found, using computers, a planet beyond Pluto with rings like Saturn and an orbit perpendicular to the Plane of the Ecliptic! One thing was apparent. We had a lot to learn about a lot of things.
Then, in 1987, Peter told us we had finally graduated from pre-pre kindergarten (he has a great sense of humor!) and that it was time to change the name of the sessions from Peter Lessons to Peter Dialogues. Our groups since then have enjoyed not only those times when Peter puts on the hat of professor and lectures, but also the give and take of more conversational exploration. Often, the gatherings are marked by each of us asking and answering our own questions. It seems that our meetings now are focused on a topic which we discuss during the Dialogue and play with experientially during the Twelve Many Friends meetings. The two certainly support one another. We value healthy skepticism and encourage continued testing of all the teachings. In case you are wondering if beginning to study with Peter now without benefit of those earlier years would be a handicap, the answer is it would not. When asked by a recent newcomer how he could ever catch up all 27 of the years hed missed, Peter replied, You were already caught up. Its been Harris and Lucette who have had to catch up with you! We really cant do it wrong! With love, Kay (Lucette) Go to the Calendar. |
